The well- known Cypriot artist, Costas Joachim, presents a new exhibition of paintings with recent and older works at Gloria Gallery in Nicosia.
The exhibition will be inaugurated by the Honourable Mr. Nicos Tornaritis, Parliamentary Leader of the Democratic Rally, on Monday 6th October 2025, at 7.30pm at the Gloria Gallery Nicosia. The exhibition will remain open until 18th October 2025.
The Artist’s Comments about the exhibition
My work has evolved after many years of deep connection with the arts and in particular the aesthetic qualities of painting, the cultural heritage, environment and history of Cyprus.
The more recent works in this exhibition are the result of systematic and consistent creativity. Comments by the art critic Dr. Eleni Nikita:’ Costas Joachim is considered one of the most significant artists and protagonist of abstract art in Cyprus.’
The painting created is a continuous dialogue with the inspiration from the environment. The painted surface is presented as a dialogue of forms, space, colour and line. The new paintings retain the original concept and yet emit a charm, touching the spirit of poetry.
In addition, some paintings present symbolic themes, figures in exotic environments, and reminiscences of my home in Bellapais. As a young man, born and raised with my grandfather, priest of the Abbey, in view of my house, my artistic development grew with sensitivity to the environment.

Biographic Note
Born in Bellapais, Kyrenia, Cyprus in 1936.
From 1961-63, Joachim studied art at Bath Academy of Art, UK, with speciality in painting, sculpture, visual perception and art education, acquiring the degree of Fine Arts and Art Education of the University of Bristol UK.
In 1968 Joachim presented his first solo exhibition at the Cyprus Hilton of Nicosia. From this exhibition, the artist Christoforos Savva and the International Art Critic Tony Spiteris, selected art works for presentation of Cyprus at the 34th Biennale of Venice Italy, in 1968.
In 1975 he acquired the diploma of Fine Arts of the Polytechnic of Athens followed in 1980 by the postgraduate Diploma in Painting, Aesthetics and Art History at the Byam Shaw School, Chelsea College of Art London. In the years from 1970-1980 he presented works internationally at Galleries Europa in Berlin and Munich, Galleries Lambert in Los Angeles, and also others in Paris, Hamburg, Montecatini, Florence and Athens. His participations in 2009 and 2015 in the International Biennales of Florence were also significant.
From 2003-2009 Joachim was honoured annually with the Presidential Prize for his contribution to the cultural scene of Painting in Cyprus.
